Connector is a pipeline technologically connecting parallel gas pipelines and permitting to shut off separate sections if necessary (emergency, repair, etc.).

Laying of two or more parallel gas trunklines requires connectors equipped with:

  • shutoff valves (for gas pipelines with equal pressure);
  • pressure reduction valves and safety devices (for gas pipelines with different pressures);
  • shutoff valves on both sides of a shutdown safety valve for the inlet and outlet of a compressor station respectively.

Connectors are to be placed at a distance from 40 to 60 kilometers between each other close to line valves (on both sides) as well as upstream and downstream of a compressor station between shutdown valves. It is necessary to place connectors near every line valve at gas pipeline sections located in hard-to-reach places or in a harsh environment.
